Well, I’ve done it again. Over the last (roughly) 6 weeks I’ve redesigned this site and migrated it to WordPress. Something that was long overdue.
I wanted to redo the site for a while, but there were a few things that were preventing me from doing that. The CMS I was running on was too volatile and there just wasn’t enough time.
I was running things on top of PyroCMS. If you’re familiar with the product you’ll know that is in the middle of some major changes. While I think these changes are certainly warranted, designing themes or creating addons for it during those changes didn’t make sense. It was time to say goodbye to PyroCMS.
2013 was a focused year for me. I made a concerted effort to spend more quality time on less things. The redesign and migration just weren’t in the cards until the very end of the year.
I was interested in creating a site that is focused on content first. I didn’t want readers to get distracted while consuming info, so I’ve done a few things to mute elements that should only be noticeable when they’re needed. I’ll be writing some more on the thoughts and process behind the design in the future.
